Titan Fuel Anticipates an Entrance Into the Gasoline Market in 2021
Efficency, Utilization, Resilience, Warranty
For a vehicle with a diesel engine to work better for longer, timely mechanical maintenance and supply of clean, high-quality fuel are essential. Quality of diesel fuel has always been an important part of supporting manufacturer’s warranties, and maintaining the performance, usable life, and reliability of all diesel engines.
The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and American Petroleum Institute (API) are two bodies that ensure the quality of diesel fuel and the suppliers and refiners of diesel fuel in America are required to ensure compliance as closely as possible with ASTM and API guidelines. Choosing the correct fuel for diesel engines is a must.
Below are a few characteristics of a good diesel fuel to help keep your vehicle on the road and in top-performing condition.
Diesel Fuel Cetane Number
Cetane measures a fuel’s ignition delay and diesel fuel’s cetane number is a measure to check the fuel oil’s volatility. Diesel with a higher cetane number makes it easier for engines to start and achieve a smooth combustion process. If the cetane number is low, diesel engines find it difficult in starting once injected into the diesel combustion chamber.
According to ASTM and API, the 1D and 2D diesel fuels have a cetane rating between 40 and 50. The rating of cetane in diesel fuel may differ from the octane rating used in gasoline, the higher the octane rating, the better will be fuel quality & utilization.

Diesel Fuel Viscosity
This is another characteristic of good diesel fuel, which is responsible for mitigation of resistance of the fuel flow, affecting oil temperature. Diesel fuel with higher viscosity puts additional pressure on the injection system and reduces the atomization and vaporization of the fuel spray.
On the other hand, low diesel fuel viscosity allows it to provide enough lubrication on the moving parts while allowing the fuel to flow freely at its lowest operational temperature. ASTM and API recommend using fuel viscosity in the region of 39 Seconds Saybolt Universal for high-speed engines.
